For a short trip with light use, an operator day pass can be enough. For a holiday or family trip of a week or more, a travel eSIM almost always wins: fixed price, no per-day billing, your home number kept for calls and bank codes.
Roaming outside the EU/EEA is built on day passes: you pay for every calendar day the phone happens to use mobile data — even a background app refresh is enough to bill the day. A travel eSIM is the opposite: you buy a data amount (1, 5, 20 GB…) at a fixed price, and it costs exactly the same whether you use it over three days or three weeks.
Example (published prices, July 2026): Telia charges 169 kr per day for 1 GB in Turkey. Fourteen days of normal use is then over 2,000 kr. The same fortnight on a travel eSIM with 5–10 GB costs a fraction of that, and you never count days. A short weekend with just maps running? Then a couple of day passes may be simplest — the point is to calculate on YOUR length and YOUR use.
Our roaming table on each destination page puts the operators' published day price next to our fixed price for the same country. The date always sits by the figure — operators change prices without notice, and we refuse to show a number we haven't recently verified.
Keep your home number: just turn data roaming OFF on it, and the travel eSIM carries the data while the number keeps receiving texts and calls — important for bank codes and for family reaching you. Receiving texts abroad costs nothing. Best of all: an eSIM is fixed volume with no speed throttling — your gigabytes run at full speed, unlike 'unlimited' offers that slow down after a daily quota.

Yes, and it's actually smartest: let your home SIM handle calls/texts (with data roaming OFF) and the eSIM handle all data. A modern phone runs both at once (Dual SIM). You stay reachable on your number without risking a roaming bill.
No. Our plans are fixed volume and run at full 4G/5G speed from the first gigabyte to the last. 'Unlimited' offers usually slow to 384 Kbps–1 Mbps after a daily quota — we don't. If the data runs out you top up, that's it.
